Tues. Dec. 14th 2010 Palm Springs CA

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Today we are "On the road again" heading west to the Palm Springs area. We left the resort at 10:15 am and crossed the Colorado River in to California, thru the Agricultural Station and the Pacific Time zone.

A nice easy drive today, good weather, warm, sunny and no wind.

no grass, no snow
As we were driving along Dillon Road the scenic drive towards the resort you see some nice homes and think. No grass to cut and no snow to shovel, just plant a few desert plants and they will grow with a tiny bit of water. You want snow just go for a short drive into the mountains and there ya go. Again watching our news broadcast from southern Ontario, the state of emergency has been been in effect for over two days and more 200 people have been rescued from their stranded vehicles to a shelter in  Strathroy. Do we miss the snow, not at all, we can see it from our campsite sitting outside in our shorts.

There is something strange about driving for 2 hours and fifteen minutes and arriving at you destination1 hour and 15 minutes after you leave. Thanks to the time zone changes we arrived at Catalina Resort and Spa at 11:30 am in time for lunch. This resort is in Desert Hot Springs just a few minutes from Palm Springs.

At the gate we checked in and asked about an rv repair service in the area. And just as he was looking for a business card the Shade Specialist mobile service van was pulling in. So we pulled over and got an estimate from him and he will be back here thursday with the parts to repair the spring mechanism on our awning. We picked out a small site and set up and settled in for a week. This site works for us, we could of had a much larger site with 50 amp service for an extra $7.00 a night, but why, we are only here for a week.
Sitting outside under the tree I did noticed large branch with a complete knot in it, very interesting.

Well another great day then as the sun goes behind the mountain and things cool down a bit I fired up the Barbie for for some baked potatoes, boneless, skinless chicken breast and some broccoli w/cheese sauce.
