Thurs. Aug. 11, A fun job ?

Join us as we travel North America in our
Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

Sunny and hot today, but we have a shady site so its really almost cool, in the sun very hot. But it is nice to be here with the sound of the waves on the shore at the bottom of the cliffs. Today we are thinking maybe a lazy day until I got to thinking that this would be a good day to take a look at the toilet in our rv. Being a marine style toilet ours has a sliding seal that opens and closes to flush, the problem being lately is that it sometimes does not want to close tight and this allows sewer gas into our house.

So I proceeded to shut off the water and unbolt the toilet and take it outside, I know this could be a messy job. I found a nice shady spot on the grass and proceeded to wash everything down and dismantle the complete toilet and mechanism cleaning things up as I go (kind of a messy job). After cleaning everything up, I lubricated the mechanism, and replaced the rubber seals then put everything back together, some 3 hours later. Its nice to be retired I can take all the time it needs. Well all back together now and it does work much better than before but still not perfect. At least we have a toilet again and I know what parts I need to fix the problem, the challenge now is to find an affordable source for the parts. I sent out some emails to local suppliers and hopefully get some replies, no rush thou.

After completing this "shitty" job and all cleaned up we can now relax outside in the shade and sun, (get hot, cool off etc..) enjoying our books and more summer weather. Soon time once again to fire up the barbie to grill a couple of juicy pork chops with potatoes, onions and carrots for a wonderfully tasty supper.
tasty
A relaxing supper then outside to read a bit more until its time to go check out the sunset. The lookout with a couple of benches and another couple to chat with while waiting to see if the clouds would move in time tonight.
patiently waiting
almost sunset
Well we had a tiny, not real exciting sunset but still nice nonetheless, there is never two sunsets the same and we really enjoy them when we occasionally camp near the water with a western exposure. We have one more to check out on friday night before we hit the road again.

  1. Your final sentence is us in reverse, it is a priority to camp on water and have a western exposure. We spent a month once on the Costa Esmeralda on the water but with an Eastern exposure. It was nice enough but the sun is suppose to set over the water!!

Yeah for sure, as much as we like camping on the water, I think we appreciate it more when we do it occasionally, plus its warmer away from the water AND we like the free camping that our membership parks allow us (not a lot on the water here). Also we like to keep moving about, keep those wheels turning, so we can enjoy it all.
