Sat, Sun. Two Busy days.

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Saturday
Kevin and Desiree's Wedding

We started off Saturday morning, bright and sunny, computing, coffees and walkabouts then pack up and off to visit family friends Christine and Bill, near Scotland Ontario. Her son is getting married today and we are going to share this special day with them. It was a nice country drive  only 133kms.

We parked on their property chatted and caught up with them for a while before we had to get dressed up, (no hat, vest, shorts or sandals for me!) and head out for the 4 p.m. wedding only a few minutes away.

We parked our car and made our way thru the huge tents that were set up for the occasion. To the other side was the gardens, gazebo, pond and impressive outdoor living room on the back of the house complete with coaches, fireplace, infared heaters, huge bar and the largest barbeque I have ever seen.

Before the ceremony started a very nice bagpipe band played and the wedding party made their entrance, and all witnessed this special occasion on a perfect fall day. After the lovely ceremony cocktails and hors d'oeuvre's served in the gardens with very efficient waitstaff. Everything from a seemingly endless supply of chicken, sushi, lambchops, yellow perch, bacon wrapped scallops, cocktails etc.. just kept appearing while the wedding pictures we taken around the property.

Then the pipe band played again leading the bride, groom and wedding party back into the tent. Everyone seated and more food was served, impressive huge steaks individually served, hot and melt in your mouth tender, for over 200 people. If you didn't eat beef I guess you were out of luck.

The meal was followed as usual by the speeches, deserts, specialty coffees, dancing and celebrating. We stayed as long as we could then back home to call it a night.

Sunday

Sunday morning we are up early as usual then in the house to visit a bit more with out hosts Chris and Bill for coffees and Suzie getting her dog fix this morning.

After our fill of coffee its time to pack up and hit the road, to Galvin Bay resort near Buckhorn Ontario, with a beautiful rainbow to start the trip with. We are on the road about 10 a.m. with the first stop just off hwy 401 at Kitchener to meet mother with a package for her. A quick visit and hug we are back on the road stopping at Milton for fuel and food. Then east thru Toronto with no traffic problems for a relatively quiet sunday noon.  We passed our first fall fair on hwy 35/115 verifying that fall is on the air.

302 kms

About 2:30 we pulled into the resort, proceeded to set up and were greeted by neighbors Frank and Heather on one side and Mary on the other. Even before we had our satellite dish setup Frank, Emile and Monique had joined us for happy hour, gotta catch up with everybody's travels. Happy hour winds down then time for supper and today is an easy one, a fresh spaghetti squash cooked in the microwave and heat up some homemade spaghetti sauce we had in our freezer just for a quick meal like this.

Now after supper the weather cools down outside so we can have a nice relaxing evening inside with our books and a movie on tv. Its really nice to put our feet up after a couple of busy days.

  1. I love how you both matched the 59 Ford in your wedding outfits! How long in the micro to cook the squash?

Great wedding !! Cut squash in half, take out seeds, put skin side up, a tables spoon or two of water on a plate , cover and nuke for about 10 minutes until tender,(pierce with a fork) works great!
