Fri. Oct. 21st. "On D Road Again"

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Ok "D" day is here and we are finally "On D Road Again". All packed, all ready and all excited.
Ready, set, go...
Our summer travels have come to and end, more great memories, its getting cooler here now so we are wandering to the southern USA in search of sunshine and warmer weather. We left the farm at 9:10 am (we have been here two weeks, time to move on) for a two hour drive to Lazy Lakes Resort in Lewiston NY. but it always take much longer.
todays journey
Once at the border we made a quick stop at the duty free to pick up a dozen Brador Malt Liquor Beer (half price at the duty free) to share with Bill (he loves it) this weekend. They live in Cambria New York and it is not available in the USA.
line up at the border
Then the line up for US customs 11:15 friday morning, was an hour long, no problem we are at home anyway, so we ate lunch while waiting. The customs official was good, doing his job, asked the questions, I gave the right answers and away we went, no problem. Ten miles from here is Smokin Joes gas bar to fuel up our coach and car even our propane tank all good prices. Gas $3.44 a gallon (91 cents a litre) compared to $1.22 a litre back home, we saved $56.00 on this fill up and about $12.00 on our propane, sure like saving money.

Next on to Lazy Lakes Resort a membership park (free camping) 10 more miles check in and set up on a site near our friends. This is done and its now 2 pm taking us 5 hours to travel 160kms (100 miles), we are here for two nights.
heading to our campsite
nice pull thru site
A quick set up then I hoped in the car to grab some needed supplies and save more money. First stop the liquor store 1.75 litre of whiskey $13.99 ($54.00 in Ontario!), Amarula Cream Liquor $18.99 ($26.85 in Ontario) and 30 cans of beer for $15.99 (24 cans of the in Ontario $32.50). Oh yeah we did buy some groceries too, fruit, vegetables, meat and Angel Soft toilet tissue, our holding tanks like it, (thanks Larry). We like the "free "health care system in Canada but with our high cost of living and taxes everybody pays for it.
we love chicken on the Weber
Now finally back home and I can fire up our Weber BBQ to roast a chicken, potatoes and carrots for supper. Our friends Bill and Barb arrived, then a bit later John and Wendy all after a hard week at work, I remember we used to do that too!  We chatted for a bit outside made plans for the morning, then called it a night.
