Winter weather at home and we movin' on down the road today!

Where are we today ?
Last night was a very warm one, about 65f (18c) windows open and just wonderful for sleeping with a light blanket.  Now This morning we are are on the road westward bound. But only 22 miles (35 kms) about a 30 minute drive. Time for us to move and Abita Springs is getting ready for Mardi Gras (very busy here). After saying good bye (see ya later) to our new friends Jim and Linda, hit the trail shortly after 10am.
Now checking the weather back home this morning. Its not real nice, cold and big snow, they got about a foot of snow very quickly this morning and still coming down, kinda slows things down a bit. Looks so nice and pretty doesn't it? We park our coach between the green truck and  white pickup in the summer when we are there. Sure glad we are not there right now.
Thanks for the picture Sam!
First stop was down the road to fuel up our coach and its been a while. So 53.6 gallons (202 Liters) did the trick and guess what only $3.39 a gallon $180.00.  That same amount of fuel at home in Ontario would have cost us $250.00, so hey we saved $70.00 today, yippee!
22 miles today (30 minutes)
Suzie just followed along with the car, she does like to drive her car too once in a while. And we arrived at Robert Louisiana, picked out a nice pull thru site and got all set up in time to make a bite to eat for lunch.
Now Robert is a tiny village, they have I stop light and population under 2,00 people (our kind of place).

main intersection of Robert
Yogi Bear's Jellystone park, certainly a hopping place in the summer and made for families and kids. No activities (fine with us) and not too busy, off season is good.
We were here over ayear ago and enjoyed the peace a quite of this area and another membership park just $10.00 a night with free wifi. So we gonna hang out here for a week and enjoy the awesome weather we are having today and see how the rest of the week goes.
In this area we have been told that if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes, it will change. And you know they are right!
But this is off season so the pools and stuff are not open but do look so inviting, except pretty cool, they are not heated.
Our site was perfect for afternoon relaxing in the sun. For a while it was 85f, then huge clouds come in and dropped to 70f, then back to 80f then by 4:30 was about 65 f. Yep it keeps changing but was a great day nonetheless. A few walkbouts, read for a while then fire up our Weber.
grilled a couple smoked sausage
Grilled a couple smoked sausage, added a small tossed salad, can of beans, some chinese noodles with a few veggies and we have a quick tasty supper, with lotsa leftovers.
hit the spot today
Thats it for a new place to visit, chat with some new neighbors from Oklahoma. A nice young couple only 80 years old, (been retired for 20 years now) needed to borrow my drill to do a quick repair on their trailer. Hope we can still do this at that age too.
Just a bit more computing (post blog) read for a while and let the tv watch me for a while until bed time.
Thanks for stopping by and moving your eyes back and forth (as BOB would say).

  1. SNOW ... that's a four letter word in this group. I'm thinking that snow is even going to be getting deeper with the storms rolling in. At least you're not there and that's the most important thing right now.

  2. Glad to hear you are in such a quiet location, so you can get in some relaxation ... lol.

I know you and Suzie relax wherever you are !!

Hopefully, that snow will be gone before you return home this spring !!

    Take care ... TnT

  3. While we did get our share of the white stuff, I don't think I'd want to be anywhere on the East Coast right about now. When the Governor initiates a ban on driving? Of course, that sort of thing does cut down the law suits to nil, and makes the decision making process easy peasy. Just stay home, which is what we did yesterday.
Today we're getting sunshine, but not your temperatures. Try to keep the blood flowing. Can't relax too much, y'know.

    1. Hope it warms up for you. We don't sit around all day. Quite a few walkabouts the resort and the usual morning exercises. I can only sit for about 30 minutes at a time anyway.
