Last day here, and a tasty lunch at Anna Mae's in Millbank.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Foggy, warm and rainy this morning, by the time I am ready to head out off to the indoor walking track in New Hamburg. Couple miles done there and back here by 9:30.
Just puttered around for a bit then into town and pick up Suzie's Dad, brother and SIL. Her Dad wanted to go to Anna Mae's in Millbank for his and our favorite meal there, Broasted chicken, and we really can't turn down an offer like that now can we? Oh they have lots of other great homemade meals there as well as amazing homemade pies, breads, cookies and desserts, all very reasonably priced I might add. Always a busy place, but arriving at 11:30 we only had a 15 minute wait.
They are undergoing renovations, looks like a big addition. There is never enough seating even with seats for 178 people. The best meal deal includes your meat, choice of potatoes, cole slaw or veggie of the day, fresh baked bun, beverage and dessert. Don't need all that food but a deal is a deal. They even have a gluten free menu as well.
work is in progress
lots of baked goodies
the homemade pies are amazing
Our order was quickly taken and fresh hot food arrived in a timely manner all together. The service and food has never failed to be excellent. Of course we all choose the Broasted chicken, their specialty.
Suzie's with mashed and coleslaw
me, fries, carrots and a fresh
 baked cheese bun
Suzie had Black Forest Trifle
I had a gluten free butter tart to help
compensate for the meal, lol
On the way back just stopped to get a shot of the Fryfogel Inn  located between New Hamburg and Stratford. It was built in 1845 and was a place for weary travellers to stop for whiskey, beer and a nights rest.

Back home Suzie cannot read or compute without help from Molly.
those are real Cat's eyes!
Milder weather the fishes are more lively
The rain had let up but still mild and no sunshine. After that hefty lunch I needed another walkabout. So into Tavi and got couple more miles done, wandering the streets. One old fellow on his scooter asked me where I left my horse? LOL... Cowboy hat and jeans, a stranger in town.
Did manage to snap a few more shots around town.
Now the one below is an interesting fountain at the 5 point main intersection. Looks like a drinking fountain either for you or your horse and one at the bottom for your dog.
When you thirsty ya gotta drink. The Tavistock Pub has been closed for a Few years I believe. Nowadays there is a Tim Hortons across the way.
love this fountain
We that's about it for our day. No supper, just snack on a few peanuts and a banana. Packing a lunch for our flight tomorrow and to bed early. We need to be up at 3:30 in the morning. The Stratford airporter is picking us up at 4:15 for a 6:35 am flight to Chicago. Then connect to Phoenix and another connection there to Yuma. And if all goes well (and I just know it will). Ray and Cindy will pick us up there at 3:35 pm.
Yahoo, then we be back in our house. Enjoy the sunny southwest and slowly make our way back here to Ontario in the next month. This has been great here with family and friends helping us out, giving us accommodations and loaning us vehicles.  Suzie's Dad is feeling somewhat better, but the healing process of losing a loved one takes a long time.
Glad that you stopped by and hope you had a wonderful day as well.
See y'all on the flip side.

  4. Broasted Chicken was always my favorite at Anna Maes as well. The picture you took of the big brick house with 2 white garage doors was Dr. Taylors house & he's the fella who brought me into the world. Your taking a big chance wearing a cowboy hat in Tavistock. That's ball cap country. I have drank many, many, times for that fountain & I can recall 1 of 3 Canadian Prime Minister who came to town & gave a speech beside that fountain. Diefenbaker, St. Laurent, & I think Pierre Trudeau. Wished I had a dollar for every time I have driven by the Fryfogel Inn & the Stratford Airporter is who I used to drive for. If it was 20 years ago it might have been me driving you to the airport. Probably all different drivers now but mention my name & maybe the driver might remember me:)) Safe travels. Oh by the way did you hear about the big EL Nino snow storm headed for Yuma tomorrow..............:))

  7. I don't think we ever get over losing a loved one but time does help. Early morning flights used to be my favorite but now they're hard. It's not the getting up. It's the getting ready and out the door. Have a safe flight and enjoy that sunshine when you get back to Arizona. Let us know where you'll be .... you're heading east and we're heading west.

  8. Safe travels back to the south west. Making lunch to carry on to the plane is something we will be doing in the future. Airplane food is crazy expensive and not very good. We hope Suzie's dad will be able to come to terms with a life without his wife. It must be very difficult. Our best to him.

    1. We usually make a lunch whenever we can, don't like to waste money on terrible expensive food.
I am sure he will be just fine, we will be back in the area in a month too.
